What the Delrex garages need
Delrex homes were built quickly and to a budget, and the garages show it: single-car, often under 8 feet wide, with the ceiling joists close to the opening. A wall-mount opener sits beside the torsion bar, needs almost no headroom, and is the upgrade that finally makes these garages convenient.
The other Delrex issue is extension springs with no containment cable, which is the most dangerous failure in this trade. If your springs run along the track rather than on a bar above the door, have them converted.
