We serve the west side of Toronto from Burlington, which in practice means Etobicoke, the Kingsway, High Park and the laneway garages downtown. Toronto garages are older, smaller and less standard than anywhere else we work, and that is exactly the kind of job we like.
1920s to 1950s homes with detached garages at the end of the drive, often single-car wood doors on extension springs with no containment cable. We re-hang these on modern torsion hardware and add the safety cables, or replace with a carriage-style steel door that keeps the look.
Post-war bungalows with narrow garages and very low headroom. A standard rail opener will not fit under most of these ceilings. Wall-mount openers and low-headroom track are the answer, and we carry both.
1960s and 1970s builds, mostly attached single garages on their second or third opener. Track wear, roller replacement and spring pairs are the typical work.
Roncesvalles, the Junction, Bloor West and the laneways south of Bloor. Openings are narrow and rarely a stock size, access is from a shared lane, and there is often no power for an opener. We build doors to the opening and fit manual or battery-backup options where power is not available.
Most of Toronto's housing went up before garage door sizes were standardised. We regularly measure openings of 7 feet 6 inches, 8 feet 4 inches and other odd widths, with headroom under 10 inches and a shared laneway for access. A big-box door will not fit and a standard rail opener will not clear the ceiling. Every Toronto job starts with a proper measure, and the door is ordered to that opening.
The other Toronto issue is age. A lot of west-end garages still run original extension springs with no containment cable, and a snapped extension spring in an unprotected garage is the most dangerous failure in this trade. If your detached garage still has springs stretched along the track rather than a bar above the door, have it looked at.
Laneway garage or Etobicoke bungalow, we measure first and fit properly.
Call (416) 666-6745Etobicoke and the west end, from Long Branch and Alderwood up to Rexdale, plus High Park, the Junction, Bloor West and the laneway garages south of Bloor. For the east end and Scarborough, drive time makes same-day harder, so call and we will be straight with you.
Yes. Battery-backup openers and solar-charged options exist, and for a lot of laneway garages a well-balanced manual door is the honest recommendation. We will tell you which makes sense for yours.
Yes. Doors are built to the opening, not the other way around. We measure width, height, headroom and side room, and order to those numbers.
No travel fee. We dispatch from Appleby Line in Burlington and Etobicoke is roughly 35 to 45 minutes on the QEW.
Every repair carries a 3-year labour warranty, with the manufacturer warranty on parts. Our technicians are licensed and insured.
Book before 1pm and we normally reach the west end the same day. For a door that will not close or a snapped spring, we run 24/7 emergency service.
